SPRING GOLF TRIP

The Spring trip to the beautiful Saddle Creek Resort in Copperopolis was a big success. We had 28 golfers over two days. On Sunday, we played an 18 hole, two-person better ball competition. Following a box lunch on the clubhouse, we then played another 18 holes of a two-person Chapman (alternate shot). The wind was howling for most of the day at a sustained rate of 20-30 mph, making for challenging conditions.

Monday’s format was 18 holes of individual net stroke play. The good news was that the winds had lessened considerably to just a light breeze. After golf we met in the resort for lunch and to determine the overall results.

In the A Flight, the overall winner by virtue of his 1^st place finish in Monday’s individual round was Mike Williams with 23 points. Second place was taken by Jim DeLavergne who did well in both the Better Ball and individual rounds. And there was a tie for third place between Jennifer Chamberlain and Mark Lee who each had 16 points.

In the B Flight, the overall winner again by virtue of his 1^st place finish in Monday’s individual round was Steve Dringenberg with 27 points. James Tucker took second place with 22 points due to a strong showing in Sunday’s two rounds. And John Brady and Wayne Lebel tied for third with 19 points. Other winners were Pete Phelan and Randy Sweeden, who were closest to the pin at the 7^th hole on Sunday’s two rounds.
